The Phoenix metro-area is often called the Valley of the Sun, a name that refers to both the topography and the weather. With more than 325 days of sunshine each year, Arizona is a hot spot for hikers, golfers and outdoor lovers. The Valley includes numerous communities that surround Phoenix.  Among the closest and largest are Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler and Mesa.
